Vodacom - New Contract - Credit listing
Vodacom declined our recent business application because of a TransUnion listing that should have been removed or updated nearly a year ago.
Ironically, the listing was placed by Vodacom’s own VodaLend division, and despite the account being fully settled and paid-up letters having been provided, the adverse/default listing still reflects against the business profile.
We submitted:
paid-up letters, settlement confirmation, and supporting statements,
yet the application was still declined because Vodacom neglected to correctly update the bureau listing after settlement.
This is incredibly frustrating because the business is effectively being penalised by Vodacom for Vodacom’s own failure to maintain accurate credit reporting.
In terms of credit reporting obligations under the National Credit Act, credit providers are required to ensure information submitted to credit bureaus is accurate, updated and not misleading. Once an account has been settled, the adverse listing should be updated accordingly within the prescribed reporting periods.
A fully paid account from over a year ago should not still be negatively affecting business applications today.
This has caused unnecessary prejudice to our business and wasted significant time trying to resolve something that should have been corrected long ago.
