Vodacom new age ****mers.

If you are ever thinking of getting a cellphone contract, Vodacom should be your last option. I have been fighting with them now for over a year and with each call in, it gets worse. They will acknowledge your calls and requests but no action is ever taken. Forget getting call backs from them to resolve any issues. 1. My agreed contract period was wrong on 1 phone (36 months instead of 24 months I agreed to). 2. I was blatantly **** to by one of their agents on my upgrade, after months of back and forth, they realised the problem and reversed the upgrade. 3. I cancelled my insurance for 2 phones, which was never actioned. Subsequently having to pay way more than I should be doing. Months later Vodacom decided to cut my line because they wouldn’t have it any other way, they wanted me to pay for the services I had cancelled. They handed over my account and when I call in, I am told I will only be reimbursed for the 4 months I was billed for services I cancelled but I am still liable to pay over R6000 when my monthly payment is just over R600 and I have been paying R1000 during said period. They suspended my line because of their own incompetence and expect me to pay for that.

Vodacom clearly instructs their employees to lie to customers about products, not to agree to any cellphone contract cancellation or any services to ensure they make money from customers. Lastly, after reading so many reviews (with similar/same Issues) it is clear they suspend lines and hand over for legal action so that as the customer you pay so they can “credit” you because you never get your money back. They know as a customer we care about our credit scores/ratings. So what better way to push us into that corner so we can give in and they score a buck. It’s a shame because Vodacom used to be such a reputable company, now they have the worst service ever.

After what seemed to be promising and looked like a way forward, I was promised a call back after investigations. 26 September 2025 is when I received an email that promised me credit, no one bothered to explain anything to me and how we move on from that point. Debt collectors continued to harass me on behalf of Vodacom, they stopped when I gave them the reference numbers for the credit. Then on Friday 14 November, Vodacom decided to debit my account for R990.02, I didn’t give authority to this, literally I saw money come out of my account. To my surprise it showed that I owed over R2784.14, still don’t understand how they got to this amount after months of being harassed by their debt collectors where I was told I owe R6404.29. How and why I was removed from the debt collectors still has not been explained to me. How and why a debit of R990.02 came to be, I don’t know, how I owe R2784.14 also unknown to me but Vodacom does as they wish. I am still sent from pillar to post, I called Customer care on Friday 14 November 2025 and was told to contact the insurance and legal department, insurance responded that it is not their problem (where as they are the very department that led to this problem by not cancelling 2 insurances as I had requested) I must go back to customer care. I am not surprised though because this is what has been happening while my life is at a standstill, I am frustrated, I don’t even want to go into details of the mental state impact it has on me after my lines were disconnected for 3 months, as a self employed person, I lost so much business during that time, I literally lost income, it was a mess. All they keep saying “we’re sorry” but no solution. I’m literally at Vodacom’s mercy, they might decide to clean out my bank account right this moment because they do as they please, zero accountability let alone solution. Get a contract on Vodacom at your own risk. Such a pity because it used to be such a reputable company but now, I don’t know. 60% of their agents are rude and condescending, I had one literally laugh at me while testing my intelligence, making calculations and telling me she will refund me R300 and I must pay the R6100 from the R6404.29 that I was told I owed, which has now miraculously disappeared and a new figure is displayed. Many have rudely said I must pay even though I was trying to explain what was happening. Strange that they see my request from 15 January 2025 but still undermine me and instruct me to pay. At this point I doubt a solution will come and my credit record continues to be messed up.
