Vodacom Negligence
I have a contract with Vodacom ,a 36 month contract to be exact.
My phone has been acting up in the sense that it could not save anything. There was sufficient space on the phone. The phone model does not have a memory card slot, so that wasn’t the issue either.
First I was to Vodacom York street and afterwards referred to Vodacom 4U Garden Route Mall. When I took my phone in, they couldn’t provide me with a phone for the days that my phone would be send away.
I however left and first borrowed a phone from a friend as I cannot be without a phone.
I took my Huawei nova 5T in on 6 April 2022 after 16:00 pm. They were offline and could not book my phone in and provide me with a job nr.
On 12 July I started phoning Vodacom Garden Route Mall and mailing them. I was asked the afternoon of 12 July for a job nr ,but I wasn’t provided with one.
Yesterday morning I’ve mailed again and asked to have an answer by 10:00 am. My mail was simply ignored. I’ve phoned and spoke to a consultant she said they would phone me back.
I’ve phoned again and was told the manager would phone me in about 10 mins. I waited on the call for 20mins.
Finally, they’ve responded on my mail and clearly says that my phone fell and the back glass broke. They are waiting on a back glass to repair it and then send it to the advance repair centre.
What doesn’t sit well with me is the fact that they didn’t inform me about what happened with my phone. No incident/damaged report was send to me and a clause where Vodacom stipulates that if anything should happen to the phone for the remainder of my contract that they will cover the costing. I mean it was their negligence.
I’ve mailed them yesterday clearly stating that I will under no circumstances accept that phone. They couldn’t even answer me when I asked and what about my LCD? What if it’s acting up in a month or two?
My phone is still under warranty and there’s no way they are going to give me that phone and still expect me to pay that contract till Dec 2023.
Nobody has contacted me yet not via email or a telephone call.

I have absolutely no idea how your records can reflect that I've been contacted and advised regarding the repair.
Nobody contacted me from your website team or your head office. I had to enquire about my phone and only then, I was made aware of the incident: NOTHING PRIOR to my enquiry. However they could not answer my questions, the fact remains that my phone was damaged within your branch.
I took it upon myself to email your complaints and customer care department with the hope that you'll assist me. I just got an automatic reply.
I can't even begin to express my dissatisfaction and disappointment with the service that I've received.
Not one person has the decency to contact me or respond on my email. What's even more frustrating is the fact that the branch is actually a repair center and they can't even answer the simplest questions: " What about my LCD? Can you guarantee that my LCD will not give me problems for the remainder of my contract? Seeing that your employee had the accident with my phone and it fell within the Vodacom branch who will be liable for the damages of the phone once it starts giving problems? Can I have a damage/incident report with a clause that clearly stipulates that if my phone starts giving problems that Vodacom would be liable for any and all damages" I mean we all know how sensitive a Huawei LCD is..."
I've started communicating since last week and not even an Area Manager can phone me or just responds on email.
So much for the leading cellular network in the country, right? Your company is very good in emailing and calling when they want to sell a product, but other than that it's wishing on stars that you'll actually get assistance.
Thank you.
