VODACOM NEEDS TO WAKE UP

My phone (Vodafone Smart 6) ****** on Friday, 17 February, 2017. I informed Vodacom about the theft that evening aand requested that the sim card be blocked. On 18 February, 2017, I reported the theft to the SAPS and acquired a case number. I then proceeded to inform Vodacom about the theft in order to claim insurance and to get a replacement phone. Since it was Saturday, I was told by the Vodocam assistant at one of the Cresta stores that I would have to wait a few days for the claim to be approved. Since I did not have a phone, Vodacom couldn’t contact me. I told the assistant that they ought to e-mail me. Being as *********** as Vodacom is, Vodasure did not email me.

On Friday, 24 February, 2017, I returned to the Cresta store at which I had reported the theft, in order to determine what progress had been made. I was told that I was eligible to have a replacement phone valued at R 1000,00 with an excess of R 300,00. All I need is a cheap non-flashy phone that does the basics and that is similar to the Vodafone Smart 6. The assistant informed me that that store did not have a phone that was within the price range. He said that I ought to try one of the other two Vodacom shops in Cresta centre. At first shop I went to, I was told that they too did not have a phone within that price range in stock. So, I went upstairs to the third Vodacom shop.

The upstairs outlet they had a Samsung Z2 in stock. However, I was now told that I had to pay an excess of R 500,00 PLUS R 70,00 in order to have my number transferred to a new sim card!!!!

I was furious at this stage. I returned to the first shop I had visited only to be told that since the Samsung Z2 was R 999,00, I would have to pay extra excess! This is absolutely unacceptable!! It would be cheaper for me to purchase a new phone for R 700,00 elsewhere! It's as though I am being punished for having my phone ******!

This entire incident has incensed me since it (once again) demonstrates Vodacom's total commitment to greed and ineptitude! If I consider that I may have been involved with Vodacom for approximately 10 years and that each year I have paid their insurance premiums, by now, I certainly have paid thousands into their little insurance conspiracy! I have never claimed from Vodacom in the past. Now, when I do claim and request a phone that fits in with their specifications, I am coerced into paying even more money into their conniving corporation. The only thing Vodacom is concerned about is their luxury holidays and opulent life styles purchased with the blood of its patrons' labour. Their lack of adeptness and insatiable lust for money is indicative of a non-empathetic paradigm aimed at making their customers' lives as difficult as possible.

Appalling service.
