Vodacom needs to take responsibility for VodaShops
I received a new iPhone 8 from the Constantia Village Vodashop in October. By December virtually every function had stopped working. I returned the phone on Dec 9, in the box with all the attachments, earphones (in original packaging), charging cables etc etc. I went back on January 11. No-one could tell me where it was. I've had 6 or seven excuses ”they can't track it”, “a technician locked it in his drawer and went on leave”, “it's at the assessment centre in Maitland. Cape Town”, “it's at the repair centre in Johannesburg”. And more. They don't return calls or give promised feedback. I requested a new phone - I don't know what they have done or where my original phone is. Today, I'm told my phone has been found and repaired and I will be getting it back - but they have no record of the accessories - even though it's all noted in their repairs book. The shop manager now denies that I handed in accessories but the counter clerk insisted that I put everything in the box and he noted it. ****! Has the book disappeared - may the night genie took it? The phone was in a protective case and was received and recorded as undamaged. They have had my phone for about 7 weeks. They now want to return it sans accessories!
I will not accept it back. They promised 14 working days for a repair and have gone way off contract. I have been a client since 1992 - counts for nothing ...
I will accept nothing but a new, boxed unit - with the accessories! They can stand on their collective heads, I will deduct the cost of my hardware from their monthly payment and buy a phone elsewhere. My wife's contract id almost due for renewal, I'm giving that some thought too.
No-one will take responsibility. In face it's simply dishonest. They made a 14 working day promise for a repair return we are now on day 39 - working days only!
