Vodacom move to prepaid not happening

I put in a request to move to prepaid as I am out of contract. This was done on the 4th July 2018 and when I called the customer care center they ensured me that this request would be completed by 1 August 2018 but I see that I am still on the Smart XS plan. Why does Vodacom make it so difficult for customers to move to prepaid? I am also unhappy because the call center agent **** to me.

I was eventually moved to prepaid on the 4th August 2018 (after complaining on hellopeter), and the agent told me there was an error in the system. My latest invoice says that I will be billed for the month of August on the Smart XS plan - why?? The call centre agents who donot have the history of this case now say that an investigation has to be conducted (again!!) to determine if the invoice is indeed correct. This investigation could take up to 7 days. I called in on the 4th of July to cancel my contract....why should I pay for the incompetency of Vodacom's staff?? It was a simple request and I was assured it would happen but now they are billing me for a contract even though I am on prepaid.
