Vodacom mistakenly blacklisting cellphones
Friday evening I got a notification "phone not allowed". I had no clue what this means but realised that I am now unable to use my cellphone. I called customer care who suggested that the SIM might be faulty. I tested the sim card in another cellphone and found it operational. I googled to try and find an answer to what may be wrong. Eventually I used an international website to check whether my phone had been blacklisted.... and what do you know? It had been blacklisted. So I called customer care again who confirmed this and advised me to go into any vodacom store and THEY will sort It out. In store they advised me I actually need a number of documents in order to un-blacklist a cellphone. So someone in Vodacom *****ed up, and as a result I have to go to the police station for an affidavit, find my proof of payment for the cellphone, copy of ID and submit the vodacom unblacklisting request form. I see on Hello Peter there are many complaints similar to mine. So what have they done about it? Why is it still happening? What disciplinary action is there against the people who unrightfully disconnect you? Vodacom quite happily receives my payment for their service every month, and the handset is personal property. I may add that im 7months pregnant, so what if they happened to disconnect me when I'm alone somewhere and require assistance? UNACCEPTABLE. I've done their song and dance and are currently still waiting for my cellphone to be unblacklisted.
