Vodacom Misleading Customers
Hi fellow readers,
On the 23rd of December 2019 I purchased one gigabyte of data from Vodacom as a bundle package and did so through my banking app. This is normally the most convenient way for me to purchase data and have not experienced any issues until now.
Subsequent to purchasing the data bundle on the 23rd of December I received the following sms from Vodacom on the 29th of December:
"Your 1024.00 MB Vodacom DATA bundle is due to expire on 2019-12-29 09:16:57. Once this bundle expires you will no longer be able to use it. To buy bundles and save dial *135# or visit the My Vodacom App."
This came to be a surprise because it meant I now only have 7 days to utilize the data bundle before it expires. Historically the time frame in which to utilize data bundles were fair and justifiable.
In my personal opinion I think it is highly ********* of Vodacom to exchange money for services only to disclose the terms conditions several days after a transaction. During the purchase the expiration date was never brought to my attention as I would not have agreed to said terms.
Thankfully this is a loss I can afford, however, what about the other thousands if not millions of Vodacom subscribers that cannot afford such a misleading transaction? Can a corporate giant such as Vodacom compensate every single user for deceiving them? Probably not although it's clear the customer is not their number one priority by any stretch of the imagination.
I have been a customer for many years now and I think it's time to take my business elsewhere. By me switching to another service provider may not make a difference but I hope this letter will gain some traction to persuade others to follow suit.
