Vodacom milking innocent customers

I was retrenched in 2018 March and I had a contract with vodacom. Since account was blocked I discarded my sim card. In 2020 October, I paid-up my account (R1 700.00) and I never used the number again. I was surprised to learn that I now owe R2900 of services I never used. I was told the account was reinstated automatically after being paid up and to my surprise, I never received any notification nor any invoice or statement, like I previously used to. How was I to know that the account was reinstatement if vodacom did not send me any invoice? I am not going to pay for NON-SERVICE and I have decided to cancel all future business with Vodacom. I am using a vodacom prepaid number but I am going to cancel it too.

I called the subscriber collections number and I was still told that I am liable for that amount even though the sim card is still inactive because data was allocated to that sim card whether I used it or not.
The account will be handed over to the attorneys and my name will be blacklisted.
Thanks for nothing Vodacom.
I am still saying I am not going to pay for service that I never used.

If Vodacom has a system which signals to the call centre agents that the contract is about to expire and they should cross-sell, why can't they have the same system which also signals such cases so that the consultants can still enquire if we want to continue with the contract or not, after paying the debt?
They won't because they want to milk us consumers and pin it on us that we were supposed to cancel the contract.
Why did they not send me invoices like they used to? I would have been aware that the account is reactivated.

Your Call Centre Agents have a tendency of calling, and when I answer, they hang up, just so that it can register on their side that they called me and the amount owed can go up, that's why I don't answer vodacom calls anymore because it doesn't help.
This morning (04.10.2021) at around 11h28, the same thing happened. I only picked it up because in your above message, you mentioned that vodacom tried to contact me. The person just requested to speak to me, when I rep**** she hung up.
Vodacom service is honestly appalling.
