Vodacom merry go round headache
Vodacom consultant called me on 5 May 2020 and told me she is not selling me any product she just wants to make me aware Vodacom has reduced prices of data and as from June they are going to reduce my debit amount and give me more data. I have been waiting for my data contracts to end (end of May) so I can cancel the contracts as I want to use fibre. On the 11 May I noticed on my Voda app as I was checking exact dates for end of contracts that upgrades were done. I couldn’t get hold of Vodacom due to lockdown but managed to chat online via Vodacom website with Janelle. She told me to contact *** to remove the upgrades as they have not taken effect yet, which I did on 12 May and was confirmed successful. I kept checking Voda app to see if the upgrades were canceled but they were not. I contacted Vodacom again via Facebook messenger (13 May) and spoke to various people who submitted cancellation. I also contacted them via customer care email. I was told to wait till end of May and all will be cancelled but they haven’t been cancelled. I queried again via email and was told to call *** to cancel which every time I do they tell me they can see request for cancellation made on 2 June but it’s not cancel yet. I first requested cancellation of these upgrades on 12 May and was ****. They are prolonging this so they would charge me. They sent me data which I’m not using and don’t want to these lines. They’re sending me back and forth and some try to persuade me not to cancel and try to offer me a phone. If I cancel before upgrades are removed they will charge me close to R1500 for 1 contract meaning R3000 for the two contracts, they are indirectly forcing the upgrade contracts down my throat. I’ve been with Vodacom since 2004. I don’t deserve this treatment.
