VODACOM MEDIUM FOR *****

Welcome to the new Vodacom where you get 3rd party services added to your bill however you cannot download previous month statements via the app or the web.

Nice..

Well I have been trying to sort out an overdue account with Vodacom without any success, have been billed by Vodacom for WASP content services from a third party Oxygen8 but neitherVodacom nor Oxygen8 cannot provide me with my requested consent to subscribe to this WASP service.

When contacting Vodacom to rectify, my calls have been mysteriously dropped without the consultant on the other end bothering to call me back.

When eventually making contact with Vodacom, I was instructed to contact the WASP serviceprovider for a refund.

This practice in unacceptable because I have received a bill from Vodacom for the WASP service not Oxygen8.

Why is it that I have to contact Oxygen8 to request a refund that was invoiced to me from Vodacom?

Why doesn’t Vodacom nor Oxygen8 provide me with contact person of the person who authorised this transaction off my account so that I may lay a charge of ***** against them?

Seems to me that if you have the right connections, you are able to use Vodacom as a medium for *****.

I am frustrated to have gone through this nerve wrecking unnecessary aggravation and demand that my money and time wasted be compensated for and that contact details of the person responsible for adding this service to my account be provided to me or else I will be taking legal steps and hold Vodacom responsible for the legal costs.

Our records reflect that the WASP(Wireless Application Service Provider), Opera Telecom has removed your number from their database.

WASPS are third parties developing and offering services using the Vodacom network. They make use of Vodacom's cellular network infrastructure and billing relationship with the subscriber to deliver and bill for these services, such as SMS voting, Traffic reports, Games, Competition lines, banking transaction charges etc. Customer’s accept and register to WASP services via sms/calls at their own will.

WASPs (who are the providers of the content) are within their rights to appoint an agent to bill and collect money on their behalf for content sold by them to their customers.

It is not required in law for the agent (in this case Vodacom) to have a specific agreement with, or permission from, the customer, to bill and collect the money on behalf of the WASP.

Notwithstanding the above, the agreement concluded between each WASP and Vodacom provides that every WASP that utilizes Vodacom's services to bill and collect monies for the WASPs' products/services, may only instruct Vodacom to bill and collect money for those products/services that have been specifically requested by customers.

Moreover the Wireless Application Service Provider Association (WASPA) has been constituted to regulate all WASPs to ensure, inter alia, that they abide with the aforementioned provision. Please note that you may contact WASPA via email at *** or call on ***.

Once again, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused in this regard.

Kind regards

RJ

Well rehe****d response. However it still does not solve my problem of Vodacom allowing unauthorized debits onto my account! I have been promised a refund and nothing has yet happened.
