Vodacom Mall of Africa refusing to take back the phone I was convinced by them to take.
Hi Hello Peter
On 13th of September 2025, I visited MOA for my contract upgrade.
Upon arriving, I informed the sales person that I want a Samsung upgrade , however, the consultant and her other colleague convinced me to take a Honor brand, as much as I insisted that I want a Samsung. I agreed to see the Honor 400 Pro that they were convincing to take , but instead they showed me the Honor 400, saying it has the same features as the Pro, I asked why am not shown the Pro, the answer was they don't have it on display, hence they are using the 400 to sell.
Since we had already spent too much time, I decided I will check it at home. I then got home and check the features, only to realise they are not what I was told, using another version. I the morning I headed to the shop to explain the matter that I am not happy with what they sold me, basically I was sold lies by using another phones features to sell me another.
Unfortunately, the manager on shift says he cannot help me on this as they are binded by Vodacom not to take returns if the phone doesn't have factory faults.
I then mentioned that I was pushed to buy this phone that I was not shown ,I even asked the sales person why are they pushing me to this phone so much, are they getting a commission? And she remembers that, because I was starting to be curious.
The phone is still less than 24hrs since opened but there's still no solution. However, the manager said he will escalate this to the branch manager and hear what he says, otherwise he is out of this, the sales persons should see how they resolve this issue.
May I please be assisted as I was sold a phone that was not shown to me prior signing and the store only had a demo that was not operational. 36 Months is a very long time paying for a product that I'm not satisfied with.
Your response will be highly appreciated

I'd like to thank the Vodacom Mall of Africa branch manager for intervening on the situation today.
I received a call today from the store to say the issue has been escalated to the branch manager and he advised that I can return the phone in question and take the Samsung that I initially wanted. I have received my phone and happy with it.
He then apologized on behalf of the assistant manager that had handled the situation the way he did in his absence, leaving me there withb the sales agent for them to see how they come out of the situation on their own.
Thank you once again.
