Vodacom Makes Mistakes and I Pay!

On the 14th of December 2016 I phoned Vodacom customer care to cancel my current contract and switch my number over to prepaid. As my contract is ending on the 31st of December 2016. The lady on the phone was very helpful and told me that on the 31st of December 2016 at 00:00 the phone will lose signal and then I need to switch it off and load it with at least R15 prepaid airtime for the number to go over to prepaid. All perfect. I hang up thinking everything is in order. Next morning on the 15th of December 2016 my phone is off and it says my line is suspended. I have been charged for the full month of Dec 2016 and my line is of at half the month. So I phone Vodacom customer care. They tell me that the line was requested to be cancelled and that it has been done. I explain to them that I was told the cancelation will only happen on the 31st of December 2016. They tell me they are sorry and will rectify it and it will take 48 hours excluding public holidays (16 December 2016 the next day) and excluding weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Now I am furious. They messed up and they can’t fix until the Monday. SO I hang up and wait till it comes on again. It actives later in the day after long phone calls to Vodacom customer care. After it is activated I phone Vodacom and ask them will it be cancel on the 31st of December 2016. They assure me that it will and give me the same R15 recharge advice as the first consultant. So on the 1st of January 2017 guess what happened. The contract was just renewed. I call Vodacom. They tell me that I must now wait till 31 January 2017 to go over to prepaid as they cannot do anything about it because they cannot cancel an account at the start of a month. But in December they cancelled it in the middle of the month. So now Vodacom is charging me for Jan 2017 for a mistake they made. Above that they are charging me R500 for my handset which is payed of. How can this be rectified?
