Vodacom **** to me using Covid-19 relief
I received a call from a Vodacom rep in November. They told me that Vodacom will be extending a Covid relief offer to me in a form of 50% discount on my bills for the next 6 months. Nothing happened after this. I continued to pay 100% of my bill.
I received yet another call late Dec/early Jan'22, telling me the same thing. I dismissed this person because I didn't believe their lie, but they assured me it was real. Nothing happened.
I called Vodacom to follow up about this late in Jan and the agent on call told me that they can see an offer was made but not activated. They also said it was 25% discount and not 50%. I was adamant that the offer was 50%. The agent then said she has forwarded my query to the relevant department and they would get back to me. Nothing happened. No call from Vodacom. I continued to pay full bill.
I called about 3 weeks ago to follow up and this time around the agent assured me that I would receive a phone call in the next 24hrs. She also said that the offer is 25% and not 59%, and I went ahead to give her a breakdown of what happened. I did not receive any form of feedback from Vodacom.
Today, 04-March-2022 I called Vodacom and the first agent on call said she cannot see notes regarding Covid relief on my profile. She forwarded me to cancellations department (***) saying that they are the ones who handle Covid reliefs. The agent at the cancellation department listened to me and confirmed that the Covid relief was indeed 50% in 2021, and was changed to 25% in 2022. He went on to refer me to the rewards division ***). After holding for some time on this number, an agent that finally picked up the phone told me that Vodacom systems are offline and that I must call after 3pm. My hope was gone.
It is now clear to me that Vodacom has taken me for a fool. I don't know how many customers out there are experiencing this kind of treatment. I continue to pay an average of R2,2300 per month on my contract. Ideally, I would like to end my relationship of many years with Vodacom and explore other service providers, but I know that they will quote the contract conditions and hold me against that. But how do I, as a customer, hold Vodacom to account for their FALSE promise and the lies?
This situation has left me stressed because I had hopes of saving just over a thousand rands monthy but that turned out to be a lie that no one at Vodacom wants to account for.
I do I get out of this contract, please? This has been an emotional abuse. I have taken stress trying to follow this up.
Kind regards, Motsamai Rantho.
