Vodacom *****, lack of service, lies and broken promises.
The below was posted on Facebook on the 25 Nov, with proof and screenshots of correspondence.
the below issue is still not resolved , I have still not got full refund. And nobody from vodacom has got back to me after many more hrs of calling and more emails.
I got a call In August 2022 from what I thought was Vodacom at the time (rewards co) offering me a laptop and a ****le device for an additional R200 per month on top of the current R150 odd I was paying , the laptop was worth about R28k, I did the maths with the person on the phone at the time and it worked out to me paying R7200 for the laptop, no escalation, too good to be true, I mentioned how come this is possible, there is o such thing as free money, he said because you are a loyal Vodacom customer and I’m already paying something towards it, it went along those lines…. One year later in September I go to renew my main cell number and ask for a breakdown of my bill and notice a separate amt for R900 plus, I query that and guess what’s, it’s for the R200 extra that I was meant to be paying, I’ve been charged R900 per month instead of R350. I’ve been trying to get this sorted since 17th Sep and been messed around spent over7hrs on the phone to Vodacom and rewards co, I have been to Vodacom stores on multiple occasions to listen to voice recording that I was told would be in the store after 72hrs from when I called on the 17th Sep….. the recording was only made available on the 11th November, I was also told I could take a memory stick and get a copy of the recording so when I went in, that’s what I did… both Vodacom stores said they don’t even have memory card slots in the store and both also mentioned that they are not even allowed to give me the recording as its Vodacom property. Then Vodacom don’t have earphones for me to use, so I try and listen with lots of noise but it’s clear I am in the right and the recording proves everything I say, the lady at Vodacom even confirms that I am correct and tells me to lay a case of ***** against Vodacom. Then rewards co contact me and say that my claim is invalid, I call Vodacom again and tell them to listen to the recording, which they do and they agree with me that I should be refunded about R11 000, but I must first return the laptop and ****le, which I agree to and they say rewards co will be in touch. I have it in writing from Vodacom that I will be refunded R11 000, rewards co calls me and says they will only refund me R7000 plus minus as I have had use of the laptop which I reject as I had no need for the laptop and I would not agree to these terms if they were offered in the contract. I then try call Vodacom and guess what, my number has called Vodacom too many times and as such it has blocked my number in case of *****, so I can longer contact Vodacom and they give me another Vodacom number which is charged at R2 per minute. The person that I was emailing with at Vodacom is now ignoring my emails and nobody is getting back to. I would like to be refunded with interest, compensated for the waste of my time on the phone, writing these emails, going in to Vodacom stores on multiple occasions, I have now bought a new laptop and told rewards co and Vodacom that they must arrange for a professional to get all my programs and emails set up and everything transferred across as I had paid for this service when I took this laptop. I have had 3 to 4 contracts with Vodacom since moving back to SA in 2013, my current Vodacom bill is R3500 per month I wonder how many other people get caught by these *****ulent tele sales company and people just give up as it’s not worth the hassle, but I will not let this go out of principle…. Please share this post so that hopefully this stops other people getting ********** and so that these companies can be held accountable….. I will definitely be leaving Vodacom and taking my business elsewhere.
MTN here I come – and I suggest everyone else who has a Vodacom contract to have a little look into what they are being charged. Update 7 jan I was promised a refund ages ago, still has not happened. I was promised they would give me a great deal on new contract, nobody has got in touch with me. I have emailed and phoned and spent another 6 hours of wasted time since my post in November.
Stay clear of vodacom and rewards co.
A representative from vodacom hello Peter made contact with me and was going to liaise with me rewards co and get back to me. He was very helpful and it sounded promising.
Please could that she person get in touch with me again so that I can finalise getting a new contract or moving to another service provider.
Thanks.

Nobody has made contact with me, I spent 50 minutes on the phone with Vodacom again today, the contract that I cancelled was not canceled and the service that I added on on in place of my current contract is being charged together with the contact amt that was not canceled.
Please listen to the 1hr phone recording on the 31 dec 2024 cancelling current contact and adding on the new minutes and data.
Please expand on your statement that contact was made?? To whom and when.
Vodacom are an utter disgrace and now blatantly lying on hello peter.
