VODACOM - LACK OF COMMUNICATION

In 2019 I have settled one of my 2 Vodacom contracts (SETTLED: *** currently on Prepaid). After settling, I hadn't received a statement from Vodacom for the additional contract which was a R50.00 per month contract ***). This was in May 2019. On 09 March 2020 I got a sms saying that I owe Vodacom R4879.55 and they threatened to hand me over. I thought it was a **** as I didn't have any active Vodacom Contracts which could accumulate to R4879.55. I called them - the call centre agent confirmed that I owe them the said amount. After investigating and speaking to another cal lcentre agent, it came to my attention that the contract for R50.00 had indeed not been cancelled, and I owe them around R800 and not R4800.00. R4800.00 was the total amount for the 24 month contract. This number is not active hence the fact that I thought both numbers had been cancelled. I agreed to pay them over two months because apparently it takes 30 days to cancel the contract. I have made the first payment and sent an email to cancel the contract - numerous times. The automated response indicated that they will call me within 48 hours. This was in May and June 2020. To date still have not received a call, an email, a statement or confirmation of cancellation of contract. They refuse to cancel the contract and I am unsure if they continue billing me R50.00 per month. My number had been suspended since May 2019 and I have lost all my airtime for this number, but they hold me to the monthly payments.

I don't mind paying the outstanding balance, but I need confirmation that this contract had been cancelled. I am extremely unhappy about the lack of communication from Vodacom, and the fact that they feel they can continue with this behavior because they are a big entity.

Thank you for your feedback. This is exactly my problem- it had been handed over without the correct procedures. Vodacom had to attempt to contact me before handing me over to collections? Should Vodacom have contacted me in May 2019, we would not have had this problem. Since May 2019 the only contact I had was a sms stating that the account had been handed over for collection. How is this fair practice?
