Vodacom – Lack of Business Ethics
I have posted previously about this Company’s business ethic and their disrespect they show towards their customers. A recap of correspondence and phone conversations entered into with Vodacom. 2 December 2023 New phone bought under Vodacom Contract 5 January 2024 – Faulty phone, booked in at Vodacom Shop, Canal Walk in Cape Town Monday 29 January 2024 After trying to contact Vodacom via their customer care email address and their bot application with out any success, I finally managed to speak to Roche Julies - workshop manager at Canal Work in Cape Town – I advised that in terms of the CPA (Consumer Protection Act) I wanted them (Vodacom) to replace my phone with a new one, or alternatively cancel the contract. Wednesday 31 January Sent written follow up to Roche Julies re our conversation. Thursday 1 February Response from Roche Julies stating that he has notified Vodacom’s Escalation department and that he has motivated for a CPA approval. Tuesday 6 February Wrote to Mr Julies asking for name and position of the person at Vodacom who he had referred this matter to as I needed this information to enable me to lodge a complaint with: The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICSA), as well as The Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman Wednesday 7 February Meaningless SMS received from Vodacom “ Your Service Ticket with reference number EC-1TFU-1VRJ7W has been closed. Friday 9 February Email from Roche Juries as follows : Please note that I've requested the CPA credit amount from our Vodacom head office. Just to confirm, please advise if the device booked in was a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 or Xiaomi Redmi 12? This is to ensure that the correct amount is processed. I rep**** same day, giving him the information he needed. Monday 12 February Email from Roche Juries as follows : Thanks for clarifying the model. Apologies for the delay. I'll advise soonest. Wednesday14 February I have heard nothing further from Vodacom or Roche Juries. Based on Vodacom’s track record and their disrespect for their customers it is unlikely that they will do “the right thing” and replace the phone any time soon. Vodacom will in all likely hood post an automated response to this post, but will do nothing further than that. This leaves me with no other alternative but to report Vodacom to ICSA and the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman’s. Consumers beware of Vodacom. Deal with them at your peril.!
Oh sorry, my mistake, after just 3 months, they have done something - for the Month of April they have ncreased the contract amount from R199.87 to R215.67 .
I have raised this query on their "customercare" platform, but based on my past experience with them on I doubt very much that they will respond.
