Vodacom Kolonnade helpdesk staff line pockets with pensioner money

My dad got locked out of his phone. He took it to Vodacom Kolonnade. The guy at the helpdesk told him that he has to send the phone away and it would cost R300 but he would do it for R150. My dad agreed, being a pensioner and not knowing any better. The factory reset the phone, which takes no effort at all, charged my dad the R150 and pocketed it. Obviously all of my dads settings and apps were cleared and the phone used about 400mb more than my dads bundle. So it will cost him another R800 that he as a pensioner does not have.

I think that is in poor taste and reflects poorly on the entire Vodacom and not just on the specific store and staff member.

I have been a Vodacom customer for 12 years now but after this will be considering the alternatives. I converted my dad from mtn to vodacom, which I now regret. He did not have one issue like this in his 16 years at mtn.

I would like my dads money returned.
