Vodacom is to be avoided at all costs
I have been a vodacom contract client since 2012, I have paid my account and faithfully renewed my dual phone contract for 10 years. End of January 2023 I decided to add a Home Internet contract onto my name as my dealings at this point with vodacom have been somewhat painless. The contract which I took was a 10Mbps download, 2Mbps upload, uncapped home internet for R399 per month. Within about 2 and a half months the trouble started... not only was our internet intermittent but when the internet was working the line speed would be a couple Kbps upload, and maybe 1Mbps download if we were lucky. We paid thousands of Rands to install an aerial booster on our roof and have the router troubleshooted at a Vodacom's technical department just to ensure the issue wasn't with the hardware. I would call in DAILY to report my internet as not working and each time we were told to "reset" the router and they would re synchronize their end. This would help for a couple hours, just for it to disconnect once again. In the meantime, we are loading (around R2500) extra data a month just to be able to work and generate an income as we both work from home. Fast forward 5 months and literal hours of call time to Vodacom our line officially disconnects and will not reconnect no matter what we do or what we are instructed to do. Keeping in mind we have asked for the Technical department to contact us and they have never done so. We eventually get through to a man by the name of Donovan, working out of the Cape Town offices. He explains that with every reset/resync it damages the router and sim and that now the device has been rendered useless. We request he get technical to call us (ONCE AGAIN), 4 days later and no call we decide to take the device back in to see if they can replace it.
We arrive at Liberty Midlands Vodacom4U store and wait in line around an hour. Once we get to the counter, before we can finish explaining the issue, we are told it needs to be left there for 21 days and we will be liable for all repair costs. We told the man to keep the router, assess it however he feels fit but that it is to be cancelled on a technical issue and that we will not be held liable for any cost as the issue is nothing that has been caused by us, has been ongoing for MONTHS, and their service has been less than substandard. We then called into vodacom cancellations to notify them of the cancellation, which they asked questions and requested forms. In all honesty why should my compliance to their standard company practices be in the category of excellent when they cannot provide me with the service and support that I am paying for.
I hereby do not recommend Vodacom to anyone considering using their services and will definitely not be paying another cent of my hard earned money towards any possibly ********* payments they require from me from this point onwards. Very traumatized by my latest experience with Vodacom.
