Vodacom is *****ing money.
I cancelled my contract with Vodacom and now they are threatening to ruin my credit score after they tried to deduct money from my closed bank account.
I will be be closing any other accounts I have with them, and recommend you do the same. Read the other reviews. Take heed. They have done the same with multiple family members of mine.
My contract ended last year September, and I continued using their service by default. I went in to their shop end of January to cancel the contract. They told me this has to be done over the phone. I informed them in the shop that I closed my bank account to which the debit order was connected, and would like to pay any outstanding fees, which I paid in full, and she confirmed that nothing else was owed. I called the number the next day, and after a lengthy conversation where they tried to convince me to take another contract they eventually conceded and converted from contract to prepaid and I received my reference number for the cancellation.
Early February I received an email with an invoice but I was unable to view the pdf on my phone, and was without data to check on my computer, of course. But I accepted that I had paid everything in the shop, so ignored this. I then got an sms a while later claiming that I now owed them R100 for the debit order bouncing where they tried to take R4 out of my account.
I went back to the shop and the lady working there can't figure out what that R4 is for.
I refuse to be bul**** and refuse to pay this R100. I have been a Vodacom client for nearly 20years and feel Vodacom sorely lacks respect and loyalty to their clients. The company is so big that they feel powerful enough to take advantage of their small and insignificant individual clients, when they have a million more who are pumping money into their business.
