Vodacom is *****ing from my account
Yesterday was the second time I was double debited by Vodacom. The first time was on the 18th of September - apparently due to a "technical error" on Vodacom's side. I called Vodacom about it and they said they'd look into it. Knowing that that would probably take ages, or not happen at all, I called my bank and they helped me to reverse the second debit order. Note that the 1st payment was left as is, it did go to Vodacom, so my account for September was paid.
I then started receiving phone calls and smses from Vodacom saying my account was in arrears. I called them again and asked if I can send through my bank statement showing that one of their 2 debit orders did indeed go through. They gave me 2 email addresses - *** and ***. I emailed both multiple times with my bank statement showing that payment was successfully made. This was by the 21st of September. Regardless, I still received daily smses and threats of being cut off because my account was not paid.
I called again by the end of September and told the rep that I refuse to end the call until he has gone to this Sanele Songo and confirmed with her that my email was received and the case is sorted. He did that, and according to him she said ooh yes she had received the email, and had then and there confirmed that payment was indeed made. The case was then closed apparently. I stopped receiving smses and calls about being in arrears so thought all was good.
Skip to October the 18th. Debit order went off as usual - the correct amount. But by the 20th I started receiving messages about being in arrears again. I called, explained the situation to a new rep who was incredibly rude and kept telling me how I was wrong, and I owe them money. This after Sanele apparently closed the case. I insisted to speak to her, but she was 'indisposed'. I was promised she'd call back, but still waiting. I left it then and ignored all smses.
Now, on the 18th of November, once again I was debited twice the amount I'm supposed to pay. This time though, it wasn't 2 separate debit orders, but one lump sum so I can't reverse anything.
I am at my wits end with this company as no one I've spoken to has been competent enough to sort anything out. Surely they can't just debit what they want from people's accounts? What to do next? Small claims court? Consumer act? Newspapers? This is incredibly frustrating.
