Vodacom is rude, dismissive and shady... Now they are *****ing from me
I cancelled my contract with Vodacom and was told it would come to an end by the end of March 2020. The agent didn’t process the cancellation and when I contacted Vodacom again I was told I would now need to remain on contract until the end of April.
Once I received a definite confirmation that the contract would end at the end of April 2020 from the Agent ‚Nolwando Jawe’ , she also told me that I would need to load a voucher onto my number, to avoid it being deleted entirely, by 02 May at the latest. As I didn’t want to keep the number, I did not load any voucher into it.
Now, on 28 May, I received a notification from the bank, informing me that Vodacom has deducted the same amount of money from my account, as was the monthly installment for my contract.
I’ve emailed Vodacom about this, but all I get is an automated emails response saying I’ll be contacted within 48 hours, but no one has contacted me; not via phone as I’ve asked them to and not even via email.
I'm not currently in the country, so I asked my sister in law to go to the Vodacom store on my behalf and find out what is going on. At first she was told
„maybe you are being charged in arrears or have an outstanding balance you need to pay. we don't have the number in the System and we don’t know what’s going on“
Vodacom has been deducting money from my account for the entire duration of my contract, so there is no way that I have an outstanding balance to pay.
Once she explained this to the person at the store, Rochelle Francois at cavendish 3G Store, she was told that they don’t deal with cancellations. She asked them to please contact the cancellation department to get someone on the line who can sort this out.
Instead of doing her job and helping a customer, Rochelle Francois decides that she would kick her out of the store and refused any further service.
I've had some pretty terrible experiences with Vodacom customer service, but this takes the cake. My wife also had to fight with Vodacom and ended up cancelling her contract.
The only way one can hope to get a serious response and resolution to an issue with Vodacom, is to make the issue public via a website like hellopeter, so that everyone can see their dismissive, rude and shady way of dealing with customers.
