Vodacom is ripping of tourist and visitors to South Africa
Good morning
I am writing this review to warn people and specifically international tourists about the ******* pricing the Vodacom shops at O.R. Tambo airport are charging.
I arrived at OR Tambo on Monday and purchased 3 x SIM cards and 3 data bundles. I was charged R100 per SIM card and R470 each for 20 GB data plans and R770 for a 50 GB data plan. I thought it was really expensive, but as I am a Vodafone UK customer, I trusted the brand.
This morning I purchased another SIM card from another non-airport shop, and was only charged R20 for the SIM card. When I questioned the data pricing, I was told a 20 GB plan would have costed me R219 and a 50 GB plan R299. This is less than half price from the airport pricing!
How is Vodacom allowing this to happen and how can Vodacom as a company feel comfortable with such pricing? It is not transparent to tourists and visitors to South Africa that this is what is happening at airports.
I certainly was not expecting a price difference between the O R Tambo Vodacom shop and other non-airport Vodacom shops. The same as I don't expect more to pay for food at the Spur, Wimpy and other franchise shops just because they are located at O R Tambo.
This type of behaviour is not only damaging the reputation of Vodacom for visitors to South Africa, but it is damaging the image of South Africa as a whole as it seems like businesses are seeing visitors as fair game to abuse and *******.
Vodacom, you should be ashamed of allowing such behaviour of your franchise network.

I just received the below sms message:
"Dear Vodacom Customer. Your service ticket with reference number EC-1TWH-1P3JHP has been closed. Thank you Vodacom."
How and why as I have not talked to anybody, unless you have decided *********** tourist and visitors to South Africa is acceptable behaviour.
Looking forward hearing from you.
