Vodacom is letting people be signed up for harassment

Hi there. It has been 3 weeks since I have signed up for a data contract with Vodacom and I can say that it has been the most stressful 3 weeks of my life. Ever since I got my new number from Vodacom, I have been receiving harassing calls from people and loan companies wanting the previous owner of the number they gave to me. I at least get 30 calls a day from people saying that they want the previous owner of my number and every single time I have to tell them they have got the wrong number. My question to Vodacom is why would they give me a number that is active because the previous owner still uses the number that I have for WhatsApp?. I called Vodacom customer care only for them to make me talk to a bot that doesn’t help at all. After hours of calling Vodacom customer care, I finally got to a consultant that told me that they isn’t anything she can do. So essentially me getting a contract with Vodacom was me signing to be harassed by endless phone calls? I can’t even block the calls because then people who know me can’t contact me or places where I app**** for jobs can’t get a hold of me. I actually regret my decision in getting a Vodacom contract because essentially I am signing myself up to being harassed daily. I have never experienced such problems with other telecommunications networks before. The service at Vodacom is actually deplorable.

Reviewer Update
Update on my Vodacom situation. On the 22nd of Septembers I went to a Vodacom store to show them the harassment I was facing with my new number and they decided to do a sim swap for me, however I still have to pay R150 for that simswap. I do not understand why I have to pay R150 for a situation that I never caused. Also a consultant did try to get a hold of me, however I was at work and I couldn’t answer the phone but they didn’t attempt to call me again.
