Vodacom is in the business of *****ing from pensioners!!!!

I am a 72-year old pensioner, paying R669 a month for my fibre with Vodacom. This is the 2nd occurrence where they have failed to debit my account timeously resulting in my account going into arrears. The first time was back in February 2025, where they did not debit from the correct account after they we timeously notified of my banking details changing. To have my account re-activated, 2 separate payments had to be made. One, to the value of R1450, and the 2nd one to the value of R1403.86. Needless to say, this crippled me as a pensioner, having to pay over R2800 for fibre as a result of an error that was not caused by me is ******** to say the least!

Eventually, I was assisted by a consultant by the name of Surprise Hadebe, who assisted me with my banking details being corrected and changing my debit order date to the 7th of every month!

This morning, I received an email stating that my account is in arrears and that I need to pay the outstanding amount. I immediately checking my banking statements, only to realize that Vodacom didn't deduct the money timeously from my account. I immediately consulted with Surprise Hadebe who previously assisted me and was informed the following via email: " Apologies for inconvenience. System removed debit order, however I will put it back to continue to debit on the 7th. Is it possible for us to debit the invoice for April and May today which amounts to R1338.00. Apologies once again for the inconvenience we have caused." I immediately responded to say that this is not my problem and that I can only have the R669 debited as I only have a R1000 in my account. My daughter has subsequently offered to pay the balance on the 27th to ensure that the account does not go into further arrears.

I cannot emphasize the amount of stress, this payment ordeal has caused me. I suffer from hypertension and knowing that I am in this predicament, at no fault of mine has really impacted my health negatively!
