Vodacom is forcing me to pay for a problematic "new" phone.
Through telesales I agreed to enter into an upgrade contract with vodacom in January 2022 for an iPhone 8. Vodacom sent me a message alerting me that they don't have stock and that as soon as stock is available, the phone will be sent to me. The phone came on the 23rd February 2022. I switched on the phone, signed into my iCloud and put the phone on charge so it can be fully charged. I checked the battery health of the phone to see its condition and it showed 81%. This made me unhappy because according to me, a refurbished phone should have a battery health of 100%. When I went to bed that evening, the phone was 100% charged. The next morning the battery was almost finished. I did not use the phone overnight and I was not happy with how the battery got finished so quickly without it being used.
On 24th February 2022, I called the post sales department and explained the problem. They gave me an option of cancelling the contract and told me that someone from the courier company will call me to arrange a day to come and collect the phone within 7 working days and that the person will give me a reference number. After 7 days, I called again and was told by the consultant that it's actually not 7 days but between 7 and 14 working days. I waited and still nothing. I called again complaining and was told that they will make another booking for the phone to be collected. I have been calling every as often as I can since then. On one occasion I spoke to the supervisor, he also told me that he will handle the matter himself and make sure that this issue is handled. I must just make sure that when the courier guy comes, I take the reference number, I call him back and so that they can cancel the contract and refund me all my money.
I have had 2 debit orders already on a phone that I'm not using. I have been calling using the sim card ***, and that is the number in question. Two weeks ago I called customer care and spoke to a lady named Sinazo who said there is nothing on the system and that she will put a request for collection and a reference number will be sent on my other number and my email. I never received that reference. I decided to drive to Vodaworld to see vodacom will assist me then. The lady explained that there is nothing on the system. She logged in the query and gave me the reference ***. I received an SMS saying that I should log into the vodacom app and track my query and that someone will call and come collect the phone. Still nothing.
I think vodacom is ******** me. They want me to keep paying for this phone that is not right. I was **** to over and over again. I won't take this lying down. I'm going to fight until justice is served. I will go to social media and make people aware how I was ****med by vodacom. I work hard for this money and will not allow vodacom to take my hard earned money for nothing. I will go to the bank and reverse the debit orders. I am well aware that vodacom has all my call logs and agents tell me that all calls are recorded. An investigation can take place. I have been using vodacom for over 20 years and I'm very disappointed.
