Vodacom is dishonest and is not a trustworthy service provider

Vodacom is dishonest and is not a trustworthy service provider within the communication industry. The do not comply with their own signed contracts. Started a new fixed term 2 year contract on 10 July 2017 at R279.00 pm less a package discount R120.00pm Smart Topup S+ @ 24 month contract R 279.00 Reduced subscription discount R120.00 Total Subscription charges R159.00 Monthly Payment as per 24 month contract. With the increase of VAT this amount changer to R160.95. In May without any notice that Vodacom was in breach of their signed contract, I noticed that the monthly subscription had increased to R329.00pm less discount R121.05 – monthly payment R207.95. This is a 29.64% increase on the original payment. When I queried this with the contact centre I was informed (by sms) that this was due to the vat increase, firstly the vat increase was 1% and that would affect the vat component of the invoice and not affect the contract subscription amount. I contacted Vodacom again and discussed my issue with a call centre supervisor/manager and he also did not understand what the problem was. I was on the phone for 42 minutes trying to explain the problem to the call centre supervisor who clearly did not understand. The call centre supervisor informed me that he would investigate the matter and call me back later, two minutes later I received a sms from Vodacom “titled TOP UP PLANS” giving the breakdown of this plan which is now R329.00 pm. The call centre supervisor did call me and informed me that Vodacom had increased the monthly data from 500mb to 650mb per month ( without advising the customer) and that Vodacom had the right to increase packages. (Again breach of contract) When I ask him to indicate under which clause on the contact allowed Vodacom to change conditions of the contract without written consent from the customer, he then asked me to read the contract to him, (clearly they did not have a copy of the contract) he could not give me this information as my contract does make provision for changes to the contract but they have a clause that states” for free minutes and bundle expiration terms and conditions please refer to www.vodacom.co.za. This clause clearly states “for free minutes and bundle expiration terms”, the word “expiration” means end of or termination of it does not allow for increasing of prices. What is interesting is that the ICASA has recently informed the public that unused data will not be forfeited in the future, now with this in mind Vodacom is taking the opportunity before this becomes law to “willy nilly” increase data bundles and gain revenue and get away with this as most customers don’t notice the increase or are not bothered to take action. Vodacom is using a bully attitude and is clearly breach of contract and I think that this is tantamount to *****ing. I will never use Vodacom again and will inform everyone that I know about the bad service.

Well as usual VODACOM has failed and will lose this customer. Vodacom did contact me regarding my complaint, the person who called me listened to my complaint and told me that he was going to get a copy of the contract and would phone me back later that afternoon. Well as usual Vodacom DID NOT phone me back and another customer is just brushed off by a large company. Vodacom has the worsted customer service of all the Cell phone “service providers” just refer to the number of complaints that are currently on Hellopeter. They are a large company that views the customer as just a cell “phone number” that creates revenue for them and the person that owns that number is of no importance. It is time that the South African public take action against companies like this and avoid them just as customers are doing with DSTV (they have lost 100000 customers recently) It is time that we ALL tale action and report Vodacom to the Consumer Protection Commission.
