Vodacom is ******* and exploits the elderly.
Vodacom is ******* and exploits the elderly.
I am a Black female, 57 years of age and I'm not technology savvy AT ALL!
One day I got a call from a consultant at Vodacom offering me a way to reduce my data spend on my cellphone contract. She offered to send me a new sim card which would reduce my costs and she proceeded to ask for my address.
Next thing I know my fixed contract price of R620p.m is doubled, no cost saving. I'm being charged for an extra 30GB on my current contract and they've also created a whole new contract in addition with an added simcard with 30GB. I recieved the sim card when it was delivered to my house and I put it aside not knowing what it's for because I realised it's not registered to my cell.number. Never even used it or opened it upto now.
When I ask Vodacom why I'm being charged so much money they tell me I consented to the additions and accepted the contract, so they can't cancel it.
The consultant who first called me never even explained what the added costs are going to be to my contract and what the Terms and Conditions will be. I thought my costs were going to be reduced. She was not clear. What baffles me is that I didn't even sign anything but they say it's verbal consent so the contract is binding.
Day light *******, and exploitation I tell you! How is this legal? I will never open another contract with Vodacom ever in my life!!
I will report to Consumer Protection Act!
