Vodacom investigates - I pay the price!!!!!!
On the 19th of October 2017 I was made aware of a contract that was taken out using my ID number which had then been handed over to attorneys for collection and my name handed over to the Credit bureau. I initially drove to the Vodacom at Eastgate Mall to go inquire and get more information. I was explicitly told at the branch that the said contract did not have any paperwork attached to it, which immediately led to me driving all the way to VodaWorld to submit a sworn affidavit (as I truely have never had a contract with Vodacom) and a copy of my drivers license.
Upon my arrival, all documents were taken and emailed to the legal department as this was a matter of *****. On the same day, I was provided with a reference number and told that the matter would be handled by the ***** department. I then received a call on the 20th of October requesting more information which I happily provided.
Fast forward to today (22 November 2017), a month and a couple of days and the matter has not yet been resolved.
Bear in mind, during the above mentioned month I have not been able to access any source of contracts or credit. Ranging from discount data deals for my family, upgrading my valid contract with MTN and recently financing for a house for me and my fiance.
Upon talking to Vodacom today (22 November 2017), basically I was told that there was no one individual that I could be referred to in the ***** department as the department had to initiate contact with me, of which there has only been the deadliest of silence.
My only true question to the individuals I spoke to (and Vodacom as a company) was how do I then continue with my own life when I have been listed on the credit bureau whilst I wait for my name to be cleared - I am in essence a prisoner to whatever timeline Vodacom chooses to subject me to.
How will get back all the missed opportunities to save money? How do I explain to those close to me why I cannot buy them the house that I have worked so hard to afford?
All in all, the level of interaction that I have experienced from Vodacom has left thee most sour taste in mouth. And after being told directly to my face (or rather ears) that my name would remain on that Credit bureau listing until they were done , really cemented my agony and thus resulted in the post.
Do I now have to beg for my financial freedom when I have never even transacted with the company?
