Vodacom (Insurance) is disgusting. If I could give a zero star rating...

Rating: 1 Star ⭐ WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND EVER

I am utterly dismayed by the abysmal service provided by Vodacom's insurance for my device. What was supposed to be a simple process of repair has transformed into a Kafkaesque nightmare of incompetence and frustration.

After my iPhone encountered issues, I diligently followed the procedures outlined by Vodacom to have it repaired through their insurance service which was being paid for, entirely and on time for 2 whole years. Little did I know that this would be the start of a seemingly endless saga of disappointment.

Firstly, they wanted to refuse my device book in based on a mistake that their agent made when I got the phone. Eventually the book was booked in on the 29th of Feburary 2024, it is still with them. Mind you I'm an unemployed jobseeker who is actively applying for jobs, I was not offered a courtesy device while the repair time is taking an excruciatingly long time.

Mid-March, the device was brought back unfixed after I had paid the R1000 excess amount. I had to make multiple calls to get them to take the phone back.

My phone is stilll languishing in the repair shop for over a month and a week, with no updates provided unless I pursue them myself. It's appalling that a company of Vodacom's stature cannot manage a timely repair process, especially considering the reliance we have on our mobile devices in today's world.

This level of ineptitude is simply unacceptable. I am f*******king livid. One would expect that one of the top mobile service companies in South Africa offering insurance services would ensure that repairs are carried out competently and thoroughly.

But the nightmare doesn't end there. To my utter disbelief, Vodacom had the audacity to demand an additional payment of R1000 for the repair , despite the fact that I had already paid for the insurance excess because they changed the job number. This blatant attempt to squeeze more money out of an unemployed customer who has already been subjected to such a harrowing experience is nothing short of disgraceful. Sies!

It's clear that Vodacom prioritizes profit over any kind of customer satisfaction. Save yourself the headache and avoid Vodacom's services at all costs. It's not worth the time, money, or sanity. My only question now is: "So what are you gonna say at my funeral, now that you've killed me?" - Beyonce

Reviewer Update
Hi. I told the store consultant in Ermelo that the phone was citing water damage because I got caught in the rain while volunteering. When the device was first booked in before being returned to Ermelo Vodacom unfixed by the repair shop in Witbank AFTER I HAD ALSO PAID THE EXCESS FEE, I filled out the form and stated what had happened to the device. I had multiple calls with multiple agents from the insurance department, with one named Musa assuring me that I could book in my device and it would be repaired/replaced.

Perhaps the paper describing the nature of the claim went missing when my device was being moved around instead of being attended to or perhaps when the job numbers where being changed. What I'm picking up on from this here response is some victim blaming and also a lack of accountability. Last week I was called into the store and beberated about reporting this issue. The store manager stated that I laid a complaint against her store, to which I responded by reassuring her that I did no such thing. I simply wrote a review about the Vodacom's conduct not the particular store if anything the Ermelo Vodacom store and my family have good working relations. I had explained this to the agent who first callled to enquire about this complaint/review. My issue is with the repair shop in Witbank which returned the device without fixing it, the same store that is now undergoing renovations and there was absolutely no attempt to communicate any of that with me or my father so we could be on alert about the cause of the delay after the in-store consultant in Ermelo had returned the device back to the witbank repair shop. I also want to add that the person I spoke to from the witbank repiar shop was quite haughty in her exhange with me, then stopped answering the phone altoether which then prompted me to send whatsapp texts from my father's device to communicate that the job number had apparently been changed and also provide proof od payment from the first round of the device being booked in. The last time I was told about the whereabouts of my device was when I went in store on the 4th and I was told that the device was then moved to the ARC, with zero communication again.

I'm going to remind you again, the phone was booked in on the 29th of Feburary 2024.. Today is the 12th of April 2024 and you still want to argue arbitrary facts instead of either expediting the repair of my device, or offering me a new device if it cannot be repaired, or simply paying us back the 2 years' worth of insurance fees that it seems were paid for nothing, that excess fee AND compensation for this undue inconvenience. How many important calls do you think I've missed? Job interview invitaion calls? What about my safety? I can't call anyone if I'm in a compromising and or unsafe situation. And my mental health because I cannot communicate with my loved ones who keep my Menty B at bay? BECAUSE I was just told... my phone would be gone for 3 weeks AT MOST.
