Vodacom Insurance is a big ****

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with your insurance policy and the treatment I have received. I have been a customer since 2020, insuring my iPhone 11, and have been paying premiums faithfully without ever making a claim.

When I initially took out the insurance, I was informed by the underwriting company that the excess would be R500, and the insured value of the phone was between R15,000 and R20,000. This seemed reasonable, especially considering the frequent discontinuation of iPhones. However, to my shock, when I recently made a claim for my lost phone, I was told I would need to pay an excess of R3,000 for a replacement device. This is in direct contradiction to what was previously explained to me and what is listed on your website, which states that the excess should not exceed R1,000.

This situation is unacceptable, and I feel completely misled. I have been paying for this insurance for years under the assumption that I was being protected in the event of a loss, but now I find that not only is the excess far beyond what was promised, but the entire experience has left me feeling like I am being taken advantage of during a difficult time.

As a result, I am requesting a full refund of all the insurance premiums I have paid to Vodacom. You can keep your replacement phone; I no longer wish to continue with your service. I am extremely disappointed, and I will be taking my business elsewhere.
