Vodacom Insurance – Deceptive, Dishonest, and Irresponsible

Vodacom Insurance has proven to be completely unreliable and misleading. I insured my iPhone 13 (256GB), valued at R21,000, under clear and specific terms: I was told I’d be covered for up to R20,000–R25,000, with a 15% excess. That’s the agreement I signed for — no confusion.

Now that I’ve submitted a claim, Vodacom is telling me I’m only covered for R11,000. I received no prior notice of this change. My contact details have remained the same since 2019 — no phone number or email change — so there is no excuse for the lack of communication.

Even more disturbing is that their system still reflects my old iPhone 8 Plus — the one I claimed for and replaced in 2022 — as the insured device. This is unacceptable. How can an insurance provider justify collecting premiums while failing to update such a basic and critical detail?

And now I’m told my options are to accept a second-hand device — a phone with unknown wear and poor battery life — or settle for a fraction of the value of the brand new device I originally insured. That is a complete betrayal of what I paid for. I insured a new premium device, not someone else’s used one.

This is not just poor service — it’s dishonest, careless, and deeply unfair. Vodacom Insurance is misleading its customers, keeping outdated records, and failing them at the exact moment they need support. This experience has shown me that Vodacom Insurance is not just *********** — they hurt loyal customers by hiding behind policy changes they never disclose.

If you’re thinking of insuring your device with Vodacom — don’t. You will not get what you paid for, and you’ll be left dealing with disappointment, frustration, and financial loss.

They are not on your side.
