Vodacom insurance!

Review:

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with Vodacom Insurance’s customer service regarding a claim. On October 23, I called to understand my high access fee, which was explained clearly. However, after learning the cost, I decided to cancel my claim because I couldn’t afford a new device and didn’t want to pay R700 for a refurbished phone.

I was told to contact the repair shop to cancel the repair and then report back to Vodacom Insurance so they could cancel the claim. I followed these steps exactly, calling the repair shop and then informing the insurance team, who confirmed the cancellation and advised me to call back in 15–20 minutes to double-check. After doing so, I was assured that the claim had been fully cancelled.

However, soon after, I received an SMS saying my phone was at the repair shop. Assuming it was my original device being returned, I went in – only to find out they had sent a refurbished model, which I specifically declined. Later, I learned from another agent that the claim was never cancelled because they were waiting for a “cancellation order” from the repair shop.

This back-and-forth, the conflicting information, and the failure to follow through on promised actions have been disappointing and a complete waste of time. Vodacom Insurance’s customer service needs improvement, and they must ensure better communication and follow-up with customers. I cannot recommend this service based on my experience.
