Vodacom "*****ing" money from pensioners

I have been a customer of Vodacom, without any gaps, for the last 25 years and we have had our ups and downs. But they have now sunk to an all-time low. We were fibre customers on contract for almost three years. Our monthly rate was then lifted to R699 per month in writing. I immediately contacted them and told them that my wife and I are both pensioners and that the fee is totally out of our range. The answer straight out was that was the lowest that they could go. My wife and I shopped around and we found many other providers that could offer the same, saving us hundreds of rands per month. We again contacted the number we were given by Vodacom and cancelled our contract with a 30-day notice period. We had paid all along by debit order. The last payment would then be 15 August 2024 as agreed upon. The the end of September they again took the money from our account, after we cancelled and they agreed. We thought it a mistake and took for granted that the bank would reverse it. The end of October came and Vodacom collected again. We went to the bank immediately and after a heap of telephone calls were made, we were refunded for October. We had to pay R80 for the reversal and R42 to get the money back into our account. We again cancelled the debit order for the second time. The end of November, Vodacom withdrew R1 398 as a double payment. We immediately went to the bank again and went through all the necessary motions to get it reversed. We again had to pay R80 for the reversal and R42 for the money to be put back in the account. This all happened on the same day that we have 2 or 3 other debit orders that have to be processed. Obviously there would not be enough money because of Vodacom's mess. On returning home I phoned the numbers given to us by the local Vodacom branch to give Vodacom hell. I phoned the exact number and got through to a lady that said she would put me through to the right department. I held on for 10 and a half minutes, without getting any help. I phoned again and spoke to another lady who would also put me through to the right department. I again waited for 10 and a half minutes with no help. I ended the call. My frustration is that you never get to speak to anybody to be helped properly and then you have to pay extra costs for Vodacom's mistakes. They have no idea how their own systems work and you never get to speak to the same person. So nobody is held accountable for their actions. Vodacom is a company that I will send nobody to for help or service. They are past pathetic to "*****" pensioners money they do not have the right to take.
