I have a two year voice and data contract with Vodacom which still has a year remaining. They increased my bill this month and to the best of my knowledge without informing me in advance. When I queried this, I was told that the government forced them to increase everyones bill. Is this possible? They also said they can do this because it is in the contract. I then asked if I could down grade the contract to keep it affordable and was told I would be charged penalties. If Vodacom's reason for offering contracts is to have a guaranteed income for two years then surely it would be fair for the contract amount to remain constant and if Vodacom does increase the amount half way through then I should be offered a downgrade without being penalized
