Vodacom Incorrectly Reporting Debt to Experian - Urgent Resolution Needed
In January 2025, I cancelled my Vodacom LTE contract. The cancellation quotation clearly stated a zero balance with no penalties, and I was told no further payments were due. However, in June 2025, I was shocked to find Vodacom had reported an outstanding debt on my Experian credit profile. I immediately paid the alleged amount to clear my name, and Vodacom confirmed my account balance is zero.
Despite this, the incorrect debt entry remains on my Experian report, and possibly other credit agencies, damaging my credit score. It’s unacceptable that Vodacom can quickly report a debt but takes ages to correct their mistake. This is affecting my financial standing and causing unnecessary stress.
I demand Vodacom:
Immediately notify Experian and other credit agencies to remove the incorrect debt entry.
Provide written confirmation once the correction is made.
Clarify the timeline for the update to reflect on my credit report.
I’ve been a loyal customer, but this experience is beyond frustrating. If this isn’t resolved promptly, I’ll escalate to the National Consumer Commission. Please act urgently to fix this.
