vodacom incorporating nashua mobile accounts

I concluded a contract with Nashua Mobile in may 2014.
subsequently Nashua mobile has closed and the respective cellular mobile companies have resumed to take over the accounts.
I have a 24 month account now with Vodacom which they bill me for monthly. it is however unacceptable to note that upon taking the device today to a Vodacom outlet I was rudely told nothing could be done as Vodacom has no copies of the contract.
I cannot understand how Vodacom insists they retain no copies of the contract since they have taken over the debiting of my account. they further notify me when my contracts are up for renewal and offer me a new contract.
I am now stuck with a phone that will not come on, and am forced to pay the R500 toward the subscription.
this is unfair to customers who ensure their payments are done on time.
