VODACOM Incompetence

For more than 20 years I have paid my Vodacom account in the last few days of each month.

On the 30 December 2016, I paid the December 2016 account.

On the 4 January 2016, my wife and I were subjected to continuous automated calls accusing us of not paying the account and demanding a date when payment would be made.

The application has no means of switching to a human in order to resolve the situation and no means of aborting the call.

Repeated calls to the "Customer Care" line resulted in long delays while "transferring" calls and eventually the call is cut off. Call centre agents continually claim to be unable to access my account. There appears to be no process for escalating complaints to senior management. The technique is to insult long standing customers with automated calls and cut the call off from the call centre.

Logging on to the Vodacom website shows that my payment was actually credited to my account on the same day as I made the transfer (30 Decemebr 2016).

Vodacom makes the pretense of being a leading edge technology company but cannot handle customer interactions.

It is clear that Vodacom executive management are comfortable in their expensive ivory towers and too afraid to communicate with customers
