VODACOM HYDEPARK - My worst shopping experience ever

On Tuesday morning I went into Vodacom Hyde Park to take out a new contract. Even though I live in Norwood, they were the only branch that had stock of the phone I needed. I had been dealing with an unbelievable guy at the ****arney branch, Thobelani, but he kept not getting delivery of the phone I needed and so I was forced to use a different branch.

The staff inside the shop were friendly. Half way through the process, Vodacom went off line. We had to wait an hour and a half for the computers to come back on again. During this long process, I noticed that the phones would ring, but no one ever answered them, I even said to the lady helping us Precious, 'Does no-one answer the phones here" and she gave me a cursory tilt of the head. I should have taken this as the bad omen that was going to come my way and left straight away.

Finally after the computers came back on, she told me that the number, which was being ported fromCell C, would take 24 hours to process and by the next night, Wed 14th, We would have our service. By Thurs 15th when the service was still not running on my new phone, I tried calling Hyde Park. Have you ever tried calling a shop where no-one picks up the phone. I had to keep, putting down and immediately dialing again, hopng that the continual ringing would eventually drive someone mad and they would pick up. It worked. I spoke to Itani at the shop ( incidently I e-mailed them as well just before ,not knowing if anyone would ever pick up the phone in the shop). Itani promised me that the service would definately be connected on my phone by that night. ( Thurs night). I said to him is he sure because today is a public holiday and then its the weekend and more than likely nothing will happen on those days.

This morning, Friday 16th, there is still no service on my phone. I tried the long process of calling the Hyde park branch, putting down, calling again...until someone actually picked up. Itani happened to be at the other end. When I told him my service had still not been connected, he just started taliking to someone else.....I didn't know if he was ignoring me and talking about something else to someone else, but usually a person would say , 'please hold the line' to inform you that you have not just been dropped, but that your issue is being seeing to. Eventually the so called manager came onto the phone, Jaques, who told me he would get back to me in half an hour. Over an hour later, I once again tried the calling process....and now this is what made my blood boil and decide to write to Hello Peter....someone picked up the phone, but never tended to me, never said hello, and kept it off the hook.........just as a way to get to me to stop calling.

I have honestly, never in my life come across a shop, that as a policy, does not pick up their phone. The people I should be fuming at are Vodacom, seeing as I have now waited 4 days for my service to be connected, but this shop has me so incensed that it is them I am diecting my anger at.

Finally they got a very nice admin person to call me, to try appease me I presume. Who told me the same story as everyone else, my request is still 'pending'...well I know it is pending, this is the problem, why can the manager not call Vodacom to see WHY it is still pending. Do you know that the admin person actually said to me herself that she thinks the manager is just giving me a whole story about what he is going to do to help, but she doesn't think he is actually going to do anything.

I implore you VODACOM head office, revoke this mans license, he has no business owning a franchise. I have been with vodacom from the very begining, and to be treated like this, to have someone pick up the phone for the sole purpose of not letting any calls come through, it is nothing short of DISGUSTING!!

My problem is stil unresolved and I have no faith in anyone inside that that Hyde Park Branch shop, that anything will ever be done. Will I be able to cancel the contract and go somewhere else, not on your life...Vodacom would sooner sue the pants off me.

Very Frustrated !!
