Vodacom Home Fibre: Deceptive Contract & Unreliable Service

I am extremely frustrated with Vodacom Home Fibre and the terrible experience I have had. I signed up for the service through a Vodacom sales agent, Thabang, on 5 February 2024, and I specifically requested a month-to-month contract to avoid cancellation penalties. Thabang assured me this was the case, and installation took place on 8 February 2024.

From the very beginning, the service was completely unreliable. The fibre never worked as expected, and there were two full days in February where I had no internet at all. After multiple issues, I contacted Vodacom and discovered on 20 March that I had unknowingly been using only the router the entire time—not the actual fibre connection!

Because of these ongoing issues, I decided to cancel the service, only to be shocked when I was told that I was placed on a 24-month contract, not the month-to-month option I had requested. To cancel, I would have to pay R16,000—a ridiculous amount, given that I never agreed to this.

I reached out to Thabang, who admitted that I had requested a month-to-month contract and even said he would retrieve my application details. However, he has since been unresponsive and unhelpful.

To make matters worse, I had requested that my debit order be scheduled for the 26th of each month, since I get paid on the 25th. Vodacom ignored this request and debited me R911 on 2 April—far above the agreed R499 package!

I have since switched off Vodacom Fibre entirely because it does not work properly, and I have moved to Rain, which has been far more reliable.

This situation is completely unacceptable, and I demand the following immediate resolutions: ✅ Correction of my contract to reflect the month-to-month agreement I originally signed up for. ✅ Reversal of the incorrect R911 debit and proper scheduling of debits to R499 on the 26th. ✅ Cancellation of my Vodacom Home Fibre at no cost, since the service never worked as promised.

Vodacom, you need to take accountability for your misleading contracts, lack of communication, and unreliable service! I will escalate this further if I do not get a response.
