Vodacom have to take responsibility for 3rd party billing
I called Vodacom today (9 Oct 2017 - 11:00) about an amount on my Invoice under the Vodacom Live! heading. I was being billed R10 a day for “Sky Games” since 18th August. No idea how they got into my phone.
The answer from the contact centre: "Most probably a pop up… which you when clicked.. this activates a subscription". The lady told me I must report this to the WASPA if I want my money back.
Vodacom have to take responsibility for this billing, a they are invoicing me. An invoice is a legal document, so they have to refund me for unwanted services ie ****s.
They should easily be able to profile me… and ask why is a 50 year old person subscribing to games, which I've never subscribed to before. And ask me if I want the service! Or at least have a double opt-in, so that a single click can't activate a service.
My bill is only about R500. But I can only imagine there are thousands of people like me, who only check their invoices every few months.
Vodacom should be taken to court. They are facilitating unwanted services, and gaining profit from the billing by 3rd party ****s.
