Vodacom Harassment After Cancelling Contract

Over the past few weeks I've been receiving calls from Vodacom harassing me for an account that was paid in full and contact that was cancelled. After telling then numbers times that I do not have a contract with them.

This morning at 10:42 I received an SMS stating the following: "Don't lose contact with your friends and family. Pay your Vodacom arrears via arrangement and stay connected. Call us on (011) ********** ."

I called the above number and was directed to contact ********** . I spoke to the consultant advising that my contract was cancelled in February so that my last day would be 30 March 2018 and that I the latest statement that I received states that my account balance is R0.00. I also advised her that I have an email from Vocacom customer care confirming that the contract will be cancelled on 30 March 2018.

She then told me that it was a mistake in her department, according to her the contract was cancelled in December 2017 despite the fact that I had paid for and used the contract until 30 March 2018 and have invoices to prove this. I was then told that she will contact the legal team and they will let me know if I'm viable for the cancellation fee from December 2018. I requested that she let them know that I have everything in writing if they need me to send them details since by contract anniversary was 30 March 2018 that I will not be willing to pay any fees other than what I have already paid. The number is not even registered as a Vodacom number anymore.

I couldn't believe it when she told me that she wasn't going to tell them anything that I said to her. She told me bluntly that she will call me to let me know if I'm liable for the cancellation fee and if I want to dispute it then I'll have to take it further.

I recorded the call specifically because I had a feeling that Vodacom would be difficult.

I see that Vodacom has a standard response to anything posted on here. "Dear Customer, Thank you for making us aware of your complaint. Kindly be advised that a consultant will make contact with you in due course to assist with your query. ***Please note*** Beware of phishing ****s. Vodacom will not contact you via Whatsapp to request your personal details Regards, Vodacom Consumer Website Team" I bet this will be the response I get as well... Great!

Hi Vodacom, I was contacted this morning and advised that the issue is rectified as of this morning and the system has been updated with the correct information. This afternoon I received yet another call from someone at Vodacom, when I asked them why they wanted me to confirm my ID number and advised that I don't have an account with them they rudely hung up. It would be great if you'd remove my number from the system and would STOP calling me! Many thanks, Bonita
