Vodacom handed me over to a debt collection agency, where 1) my accounts were closed and 2) without any correspondence to myself for over 2 Years indicating I have arrears payments??
I immigrated 2 years ago. After I immigrated, I closed all my accounts with Vodacom, where the accounts had completed the full term and were only continuing on a month to month basis, where I requested the accounts to be closed multiple times with customer services at Vodacom (again more than 2 years ago).
Last week my mother in ZA got a mail from MDB inc. saying I have unpaid debt and I need to pay else further legal matters will pursue. The last invoice I received from Vodacom was on November 2019, showing my account balance as R0 with nothing left to pay and no contracts linked to them.
So I phoned Vodacom yesterday and spoke to their legal department. I asked for information and which account, where the Vodacom consultant told me it had been handed over to MBD Inc.
Now if you just go and have a look at reviews from MBD inc, there over 2400 reviews on hello peter alone, indicating its a **** company, however Vodacom chooses to deal with them?
The consultant also told me I need to deal with MBD inc and they cannot provide me any information which is really strange? I used the number +27 82 135 to phone the vodacom call centre and got transferred internally to the legal department for reference.
I paid the amount on MDB inc (full amount) yesterday as I want them to stop harassing my mother (where if Vodacom contacted me in the 1st place indicating I have arrears payments, I would have gladly paid them directly). I logged in today in their portal to make sure the payment went through. The payment reflected, but now there is an extra amount indicated that I have to pay again??? I keep trying to phone MBD inc (website is https://mbdinc.co.za/ ) but they don't answer. I also sent them proof and mailed them 3 times now, no response.
This is extremely frustrating in relation to the service provided from vodacom and their appointed 3rd party collection agencies and I am pretty sure there are some legal aspects here that were skipped over. If this matter is not resolved shortly I will be seeking my own legal advice and be in contact by that means to both Vodacom and MDB inc.
On my account it should have the previous calls that were recorded, where I gave my notice (2 years ago in 2019) and made the final payments, where the Vodacom consultant indicated they are closing my accounts.
Again, Extremely poor service from Vodacom!
Final Notes (facts):
1. There should be recordings linked to my account with the last phone calls in 2019 indicating I am giving notice to cancel my accounts. 2. My latest invoice received from Vodacom was in 2019 November indicating I have 0 contracts and a balance of 0. 3. There has been no correspondence indicating anything from Vodacom that my accounts were in arrears to date, so thats 2 years now? 4. MBD Inc does not respond to phone calls (dont answer) and dont respond via mail. 5. I have paid the full amount owed twice (initial amount and the extra amount indicated to see if it just pops again, as if so, I will be taking legal action against them) now on the MBD inc website (referenced above) and still not received any correspondence from them nor account settlement documentation. 6. Vodacom is completely useless in terms of helping me to understand what account this was handed over for, the amount payable, and as MBD is not responding I am in the dark. Also I still question that I am in the wrong as I closed my accounts and made sure to pay the final payments. Hence why I am pushing to get the recorded call logs for the last calls in 2019.
Please dont respond indicating watch out for ****s, as your own legal department advised me that they handed the accounts over to MBD inc.
I am going to phone your collections department tomorrow for a final try to see if I can get to the bottom of the problem.
My email address is the same, I dont have my sim anymore (phone number) so if you would like to contact me, do so via email. The number I entered into hello peter to post is the one that was handed over to debt collectors.
