Vodacom Greenstone – Ongoing Unauthorized Billing, Refusal to Refund, and *********** Service

I am beyond fed up with the blatant incompetence, dishonesty, and disregard shown by Vodacom Greenstone.

In November 2024, I took out a data contract that included a modem and a smar****ch. The modem was incompatible, and apparently discontinued therefore could not be used. Both the modem and watch (unused) were returned to the store, and the contracts were cancelled on the spot by a staff member named Chester. Despite this, Vodacom has continued to *******ly bill me for both contracts — every month, without fail.

Since then, I’ve visited the store every single month, sometimes multiple times a month, to demand resolution. Each time I’ve been told the issue is “sorted” and my **refund will reflect soon.” That was six months ago. It is now May 2025, and instead of a refund, Vodacom has just debited me R4949 for the watch this month — a product I returned last year.

On May 2nd, I visited the store again, only to be told the cancellation was never actioned by the store in November — a shocking admission of negligence. The store manager, Khulu Nkadimeng, attempted to escalate the matter to someone named Kuben Rajagopaul, who was “on study leave.” I was told I had to wait because only one person in the entire company can process a credit.

I followed up on the 12th of May and was told by Kuben that he would need 2–3 more days. Today is the 16th, and I have received no refund, no call, no email — nothing.

Vodacom has now billed me more than R7000 for contracts that were cancelled and devices that were returned in full. I have done my part every step of the way — returned the devices, cancelled the contracts, followed up consistently for six months, and yet I’m still being ****** monthly with no accountability from Vodacom.

Let me be absolutely clear: I am not asking anymore — I am demanding a full refund of every cent billed after November 2024. I also expect a written apology for the appalling service, the constant false promises, and the stress this has caused me.

This is theft, plain and simple, and I will not let this go unresolved. If this is not rectified immediately, I will escalate this matter beyond HelloPeter — including formal complaints to the Consumer Protection Office and ICASA.

Thanks for nothing, Vodacom. I will get my refund when ***s fly.

It’s now the third week since the Vodacom Greenstone Manager assured me I would be refunded, and yet I have received nothing. I’ve been following up for over six months regarding a contract I don’t even have, for which I’ve been wrongfully debited since November 2024.

The individual handling my query has been on intermittent study leave for three weeks, and only now (as of 19 May) informs me that a R5000 refund was “all they could process” due to a supposed system limit. I find it deeply concerning that it’s ethically acceptable to debit over R5000 from a customer in a single month for a non-existent contract, yet there are apparent hurdles to refunding the same amount.

To date, I have not received a single cent of the refund. I am owed over R7000—money that was taken swiftly and without question. Yet getting it back has involved countless emails and empty promises, with no resolution in sight.

I sincerely hope the study leave results in improved performance, because the lack of accountability, urgency, and basic competence I’ve experienced so far is unacceptable.
