Vodacom - ********** billing on suspended and expired cellphone contract
I have an issue with Vodacom concerning my contract 24 month contract which expired at the end of November 2018.
I have had a contract with Vodacom since 2003 (Account no. I***) when I started working and I also added a second number for my sister around 2005/6. I would upgrade my contract every 24 months when it was due for an upgrade, however last year (2018) I had financial difficulties and could no longer manage to pay my monthly Vodacom Top-up 500 contract in full every month and sometimes skipped payments. That means the account started accumulating until it was sitting at R6205.63 by the end of October 2018. By the end on November 2018, both of my Vodacom 24 contracts had come to an end; the contract for the 082 56 number came to an end at the end of May 2018 and I did not upgrade that contract and it was converted to a normal pay-as-you go Vodacom number. The 072 455 Vodacom contract came to an end at the end of November 2018 and Vodacom had already suspended my services because there was that outstanding balance of R6205.63 on the account and prior to that they sent me communication that the contract has been converted to a pay-as-you-go contract due to the outstanding balance. The account remained at R6205.63 until March 2019 when I made payment and the account reduced to R5800. Suddenly at the end of April/ beginning of May 2019 Vodacom started billing my account again even though they had suspended my services and Vodacom continued to bill me until June 2019 -while services where suspended and my contract had expired and my account had been converted to a pay-as-you-go.
On the 25th June 2019 I received an sms from VVM a Collections (contact number ***) a company appointed by Vodacom Legal Collections, the sms stated that I have an outstanding balance of R8 933.52.
I then sent an email to Vodacom Legal Collections and Customer Care to enquire how my suspended account had increased from R5800 in April to R8 933.52 in June when: 1. My 24 months contract ended on 30 November 2018 and I did not upgrade the contract 2. Vodacom had informed me that services are suspended and the contract had been converted to a pay-as-you-go contract 3. Billing had stopped from end November 2018.
I put it forward to Vodacom that they have **********ly billed my account between April 2019 to June 2019 because I do not have an active contract with Vodacom and my account was and still is suspended by Vodacom, therefore I have no access to airtime, data or Vodacom services.
a) I want Vodacom to explain to me who gave them permission to bill me from April 2019 to June 2019 b) I want to know what Vodacom is billing me for from April 2019 to June 2019.
I put it forward to Vodacom that the outstanding amount of R8933.52 is in correct and I demand that my account be rectified immediately.
I have been engaging Vodacom Legal Collections since Tuesday 25 June 2019 asking for answers regarding my account without any success, they refuse to explain how the account has escalated to R8933.52 and they refuse to give me an email address or contact details that I can use to lodge a complaint with Vodacom.
My consumer rights have been violated and ignored by Vodacom.
I expect to get an answer from Vodacom today.
