Vodacom **********!

In 2014, I purchased a data contract from Vodacom, it was a 12 month contract. Around July 2015, I was contacted for an upgrade. I said no because I knew that I will be leaving the country at the end of 2015. I cancelled my mobile contract towards the end of 2015 and the consultant confirmed that all contracts were cancelled. While I was away, Vodacom kept billing me R85.00, I thought it was a subscription fee for my mobile number. When I returned to SA in December 2016, I went to a vodacom store (Northgate branch) asking about this debit order. Turns out, it was for the data contract! We contacted head office via the vodacom employee and they insisted that it was a 24 month contract. Eventually, after speaking to the manager (I cannot remember her name), they told us to "prove it", prove that it was a 12 month contract and not for 24. Little did she know that we were actually sitting in the store, looking at the screen, showing that it is a 12 month contract! Needless to say, after "proving it", she immediatley apologised and said that the money will be reversed and in my account within 4 days. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Another debit order went off in January, and I put a stop order on, called vodacom and asked them to assist with this query. Of course, we were sent from pillar to post, and not one department was willing to assist us. At some point, we were even put on hold, and muted for over 15 minutes. After calling back, we eventually got through to one of the managers in customer services (identified himself as 'Archer') and he refused to help us as well, stating that we must contact cancellations. How do we cancel a contract that was legally cancelled by the customer in 2015 already!
