VODACOM ***** OVER MORE THAN TWELVE MONTHS

Just over a year ago I noticed three unauthorised debits had occurred on my bank account by Vodacom so I immediately contacted Customer Care to ask why. I was told that it was for my new mobile phone contract; the first debit for signup fee and the second two were subscriptions.

I already have a Vodacom phone whose contract is in my husband's name, the phone having been a gift at Christmas 2014. My point is, I do not have a Vodacom contract at all.

The new phone number I was given was unknown to me. I cancelled the debits through my bank. I also supp**** Vodacom Customer Care with the requested documentation , 1. Scan of ID document / 2. Sworn Statement to police.

Vodacom Customer Care sent me an email saying that the matter would be handed over to their ***** department.

A whole year later, on 25th June 2016, I was phoned by MBD who told me I had been handed over for debt collection by Vodacom because I owed them R21 000. I told Daisy the facts as listed above and asked to speak to a manager. None was there and neither did any manager phone me, as I requested.

A couple of days later, one Charlotte of MBD phoned me and told me that I owe Vodacom R22 000. I asked Charlotte which phone number owed the amount and she said she would find out and come back to me. To date I have not had that call.

This morning I went online to chat to Vodacom Customer Care and was chatting to a consultant listed as Thato Goodness. I pasted some of the relevant correspondence, including reference numbers, into my chat content and to my surprise the chat was ended without warning by Thato Goodness.

I then rang MBD for further information and after the phone remained unanswered, I gave up.

I am at a loss and don't know what to do next. Vodacom apparently let the matter slip over a year ago and now are not available to sort it out.
