Vodacom forced contract
I phoned on 10 July to cancel my month-to-month data contract. Consultant said would be canceled end July. I then received an SMS saying it'd only be canceled end August. I phoned back and a different consultant said that Vodacom needs a month's notice so this is why. 1 September came and I received more data. I phoned back to ask why this is considering the contract was supposed to have ended. The woman told me that my request to cancel had been cancelled! She said I could use the data at no cost as it's already on my sim (I've since taken the sim out because I don't want to be help accountable later when a different story comes out) and that Vodacom would credit the money to my bank account, which then changed to my phone contract as "that would be easier". She said she'd cancel again and I received an SMS and email confirming this. She also said she'd escalate it and that I'd receive an SMS from admin once they look into it and again when I'm credited. I called back yesterday afternoon to confirm what I was told as everybody at Vodacom says something different to the next. No answer as can be expected. Tried again today, and after no answer, I tried again. The woman who assisted me said the cancellation and escalation was logged but she can't track it as the other consultant left no notes. She said she'd do a reversal? And when I questioned her, said she didn't understand me, and then said she'd made a mistake. I asked her if I would be refunded as I am being forced into a contract this month that I didn't want and they're at fault. She said Vodacom would bill me end of month and more than that she doesn't know as there were no notes left by the woman I spoke to yesterday. The phone call had pauses from her side probably as a result of not knowing how to properly answer me, not sure if any of it was taken seriously. Why credit me at all when the money shouldn't be deducted from my account in the first place? Really sick and tired of and frustrated with Vodacom, get no joy or pleasure out of their service. As is common with all call centres, staff seem to not be properly trained or trained with different information. Suppose I'll have to phone and fight all over again on 1 October just to not get anywhere

I then sent Vodacom a private message on this site, asking for the correct contact number to resolve the matter, since my phone automatically blocks calls from numbers not saved in my contacts. I also assumed there should be a specific department or person handling my issue, rather than the general call centre, regardless of whether it is cancellations. Vodacom rep**** that they would be in touch, but I have not received any further calls.

The statement that attempts to reach me have been unsuccessful is not accurate. I received a call from Vodacom on Tuesday, 9 September at 3:33 PM and spoke with a representative for about five minutes regarding my complaint. He mentioned that the matter would be marked as urgent, escalated, and that I would receive feedback.
While I may have missed a couple of calls after that, I did receive another call on 11 September at 12:52 PM, which lasted just over a minute. I'm not certain if it was the same person, but he said he was calling to follow up. I informed him that I was on my lunch break and unable to talk at that moment, and he said either he or someone else would call back and also send an email. I agreed and mentioned that it would be helpful to have written communication.
Later that day, I missed another call at 5:06 PM, followed by an SMS nine minutes later stating that my service ticket had been closed. However, up until now, I have not received any email communication explaining the outcome of my complaint and remain unclear about the resolution.
I look forward to your response and to receiving the email that was promised.

While I acknowledge that Vodacom has attempted to contact me, as mentioned both here and during previous calls, my phone automatically rejects calls from numbers not saved in my contacts. Since this issue began, I have been adding various numbers to my phone, but Vodacom either calls from different numbers each time or, when I call the call centre myself, my calls are forwarded, or I am placed on hold indefinitely.
Although I am no longer being charged for the contract data, I was previously also overcharged on my cellphone contract. I was told this issue has also been resolved, yet I have not received any refund or follow-up communication.
This entire process has been extremely frustrating and exhausting. Vodacom has my email address, and I expect proper feedback and the refund I am owed. I will no longer continue to follow up on what is rightfully owed to me; instead, I will take it further.
