Vodacom Finrite insurance ****
Vodacom along with their insurance providers are ********. I have been taken up the insurance from inception of my dealings with Vodacom to assist me in time of a damaged/lost device. I submitted a claim through their Jabulani branch in Dec 2020and they assessed the device and submitted a quote to the insurer. When I followed up, I was advised that I am approved for a new device. When I arrived I was informed there was no stock, so I went to Melrose Arch Vodacom. Where a kind gentleman assisted, only to discover that I was apparently under insured. He investigated very thoroughly and discovered that the insurer kept changing my insurance premiums willy nilly. I am sure this is a serious breach and I reporting this to the FSCA. You cannot change terms of insurance without consent and communication to the client. I was apparently affected by some glitch in their system that reduced my premiums and thus my cover amount. I had to backpay all those premiums from when this Glitch occurred to date.... Very cooperating for someone who DID NOT CAUSE the glitch. Once the insurance was updated, I was told to go back to Jabulani because now apparently the device can be repaired. If the device could be repaired why approve for a new device and not repairs? I spent petrol once again and took the phone back to Jabulani this week and explained what transpired. The phone was booked again for a second time. They did a reassessment and quoted again for a lesser amount than the original amount. Then the insurance declined again because of another error unknown to me AGAIN. I called and called as in all these encounters no one calls me on status and the error was fixed. The store asked the insurer to send what they need to send, which they did only after I called to follow up on the status. The insurer told me I was approved for new device AGAI and asked me to pay a standard R400 access fee, which I had to dispute because the terms of insurance I am aware of state very clearly that you pay an access of 10% of the value of repairs. When I called, I was told the quote was for R1735.32, which was suddenly redone and now amounts to R2228.08.. Eventually I was informed that my excess fee is R228.
I called the store top follow up once again as the insurer tells me that the quote was approved, no one is answering the Jabulani branch line. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO NOW? Why am I incurring costs for your errors? Why must I keep following up on status updates? You are giving false impressions of a quick turn around times because you have eliminated assessors for claims, whereas your process is deliberately cumbersome to frustrate the paying client to a point of just giving up. I am escalating this to the FAIS ombudsman because you are in serious breach of the terms of insurance without MY CONSENT and you chop and change stories when it suits you so you deliberately don't have to cover an insurable event.
