Vodacom Fibre ********* customer service
In March/April this year, we moved into Eagle Trace Estate, Dainfern, where Vodacom Fibre is the only service provider we're allowed to have. And so I had to cancel my Metrofibre service to sign up with Vodacom, which was far more expensive. After battling for 2 weeks to get the service activated in the first place, we finally had some service with many, many outages. At the beginning of this month (August), we moved into a different unit in the SAME complex within the Estate. On 31 July, we spoke to Vodacom Fibre about moving the service to the new unit (***-599053) and we were informed that it would take 24 hours and that there would be no cost involved since it was moving within the same complex where Vodacom is already live. Long story short: after several phone calls and emails, we are still without fibre in our new unit. In the meantime, Vodacom has deducted the monthly fee for August without actually providing us with any service. That is outright theft. Faisal Smit, the supervisor at the call centre with whom I spoke, promised that Vodacom would never do such a thing, and that if they did, we would receive a refund for that. Nothing! I have communicated via email to somebody supposedly "higher up" by the name of Ziad Limbada of the FTTX: Technology department (SR***) and still, NOTHING from Vodacom. Vodacom went back on its word that there would be "no cost involved" to move the line and wanted almost R3000 to move the line (which, by the way, is way more than the initial installation cost). The law in SA is that the price a customer sees is the price they pay. We were told, "no cost" - that is the price we saw! But Vodacom seems to be above the law in that regard. When we refused the quote, Vodacom refused to move the line. This left us with no choice but to cancel the service altogether. And for that, Vodacom wants us to pay just under R5000 (SR***)! And so, Vodacom is a. infringing on our rights as consumers to CHOOSE a fibre service that suits; b. ****** R799 from us for the month of August (providing no service in return); c. refusing to move our service lest we pay R3000, after they first told us there would be "no cost" involved and that it would be done in 24 hours; d. refusing to release us from their terrible services lest we pay them as well! What an appalling way of conducting business!!! It feels like we're dealing with a loan shark rather than a "legitimate" corporate! As I mentioned, we have reference numbers, emails and names; this isn't just some ranting with no facts. We are taking to social media to denounce these ********* customer service practices. Service providers need to stop taking for granted consumers' hard-earned money and under-deliver all the time! Enough is enough! All we wanted was for Vodacom to deliver on their word: "no cost and 24-hours service"! Why it must come to this is incomprehensible to me!
